Parents and students reach out to us for tutoring support for many different reasons. Perhaps they are applying for acceptance into a program that is tough to get into and require a very high GPA and need that bit of tweaking to lift their grades up to a competitive level. Maybe they are having a hard time understanding concepts or focusing in the classroom. Maybe they are doing well on assignments but bombing the tests. They could be falling a bit behind grade level or failing a subject or subjects. Whatever the reason you have decided to seek help we are here for you.

A lot of students groan at the prospect of a tutor at first. Most come around and truly appreciate that help, after all it is truly about them and helping reach their goals. Nothing better than seeing a kid who is quite broken down, who hates school and wants nothing to do with it, overcome those feelings and start to realize success. It is one of the biggest reasons our tutors do what they do.

It's a great feeling helping a student and their family. Often there is a struggle when trying to help your own child with school work and this can lead to some tense situations. A tutor is there to help a student succeed and often he/she is more than just the person who helps you out with your studies. A tutor can be a friend, mentor and confidant. We are here to help!

Calgary Home Tutoring is a locally owned and operated company ran by Leanne Demeules for over 10 years.

"I have had the pleasure of providing this amazing service to over 2500 students in the past 17 years.

My background was in medicine prior to opening up my tutoring business. Through my 20 years in that field I had the opportunity to spend some of that time teaching and training new staff and university students. I also spent time teaching in the classroom as well as in-aircraft training as a flight instructor.

I came to a point in my life where I was ready for a new adventure and I had young children so did not want to be off flying for extended periods of time. One business that I came across in my research was tutoring. It was a perfect fit! I had fond memories of my tutoring experience in University with an amazing tutor that had a large impact on my life.

That coupled with my experience teaching sealed the deal for me. I was excited to work with a group of people dedicated to helping students achieve success and be the best they can be. Some of my tutors and myself have developed lasting relationships through the years and have been with me for almost as long as I’ve run this business. My business would be nothing without them.

Through the years I have learned so much from both my tutors and the families that I work with. I also work with several city programs with some amazing people. Being a part of those teams working together to help out youth has been a learning and rewarding experience for me. 

Both of my children have tutored and that has helped me experience the parent side of the service. I feel this has been very beneficial to me as I have been in your shoes so to speak."
